6 Metre sailing at Clapham on 17th August.

No racing report this Sunday due to adverse weather conditions. Although a number of Six Meter sailors turned up, Ted, Grant, Hugh, John, winds of force 4 gusting to force 6 led to gear failures, only one race happened with 2 boats finishing (First Grant, Second Ted).

Final downpour put an end to proceedings. Also present were  Richard, and Matt, who was sailing his one metre with B rig.

Hopefully next One Metre Day will bring more normal sailing conditions.

Note that next Sunday, the 24th August, will be a Vintage Group meeting. It would be nice if some of our members turned up to give support.  Derek.

V

1st Sunday of the month 3 August – One Metre Day

Conditions

Cloudy, warm, wind southwest force 3 to 4.

Two new boats on the water, John’s moulded on Ted’s version of Viper; and Hugh’s Widget, which retired early after rig problems. Leslie’s boat (it seems this is Wotsit design, not the similar Isis) was back in action after ballast keel repairs, getting good results as usual. Plenty of wind, boats occasionally nose-diving in the stronger gusts.
